No, if you have a valid carry permit from the state of Georgia then you do not need an additional background check.

If you have a carry permit from a state other than Georgia you will need a NICS background check.

The National Firearms Act was a federal law set in 1934 to control the creation as well as the sell of short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, silencers, and explosive devices.

A short barreled rifle is a rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches. A short barreled shotgun is a shotgun with a barrel length of less than 18 inches. A silencer is any device designed to reduce the sound of a shot fired. Explosive devices explode. For more complete definitions please see the NFA page on atf.gov.

Form 1 is a form submitted to the ATF when the consumer manufactures their own NFA item. If the person who owns this firearms decides they want a barrel shorter than allowed under normal regulations a Form 1 would need to be submitted.

Form 4 is a form filled out when purchasing a NFA item manufactured commercially. Form 4s need to be filled out from dealer to individual and from individual to individual anytime one of these items is sold. Contact us if you have further questions regarding these items or the process.
